Foo Fighters cancel remainder of European tour after Dave Grohl breaks leg

LOS ANGELES — The Foo Fighters have cancelled the remainder of their European tour dates, including their Glastonbury Festival appearance, the band announced yesterday (June 16). Lead singer Dave Grohl underwent surgery on Monday after falling during the band's June 12 show in Sweden. His recuperation time is still undetermined.

In addition to their previously announced June 14 appearance at the Pinkpop Festival and yesterday’s show at the AFG Arena in St Gallen, Switzerland, the following dates have now been cancelled as well:

June 19 and 20: London, UK – Wembley Stadium

June 23: Edinburgh, UK – BT Murrayfield Stadium

June 25: Werchter, Belgium – Festivalpark Werchter

June 26: Glastonbury Festival 2015

Dislocating an ankle and snapping his fibula was not the end of the tour for Grohl. He asked medics to pop his ankle back into place after the fall and returned to perform onstage on June 12. An EMT temporarily held his ankle before a cast arrived.

“My doctors have advised me to lay low for a while,” Grohl wrote in a letter to fans. “The most important thing now is for me to recover from the surgery, to keep my leg elevated so as to keep swelling down and prevent any infection/complication that could do long-term damage. I'm not out of the woods yet, folks, which means, and it kills me to say it, the doctors have told us to cancel shows. I'm really so sorry, guys. You know I hate to do it, but I'm afraid it's just not physically possible for me at the moment.” VARIETY.COM/REUTERS
