YOUNG BRITTEN: STEVEN OSBORNE PLAYS THE PIANO CONCERTO. Steven Osborne, one of Britain’s finest pianists, will perform Britten’s youthful Piano Concerto, a work championed and recorded by the great Russian pianist, Sviatoslav Richter. LATE NITE @ ESPLANADE: UNCOVERED BY KEY ELEMENTS. Singapore’s premier jazz and pop a cappella group, Key Elements, returns with a launch of their fourth album, Uncovered. FLAME OF THE FOREST. Let Singapore musicians, Flame of the Forest, bring their fiery fusion of Indian and Western music to you with sitars, tabla and violin. Oct 26 and 27, various timings, Esplanade Concourse. Free.

RUSSIAN WINTER. Incursion Trio brings you two Russian masterpieces - the Piano Trio in A minor and Op. 50 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and the Piano Trio in E minor and Op. 67 by Dmitri Dmitriyevich Shostakovich. Although the works were written on a symphonic scale, the Incursion Trio performs it on only three instruments – a challenging feat not to be missed. Oct 27, 5pm, Esplanade Recital Studio. LIMELIGHT 2013 NGEE ANN SECONDARY SCHOOL CHOIR. The Ngee Ann Secondary School Choir, made up of teens aged 13 to 16, has won several awards in countries including Singapore, Slovakia and Hong Kong. The choir will perform songs such as Hikariga by Ko Matsushita, Janger by Budi Susanto Yohanes and many more. Oct 28, 7.30pm, Esplanade Concert Hall. Tickets at S$20 at Sistic.

PETER DIAZ. Peter Diaz, a veteran performer who has shared the stage with many illustrious names in music such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Smokie, Slade, Shirley & Company and Al Green, will perform Top 40s dance hits from the swinging 60s to the here-and-now over two nights at the Concourse. Oct 28 and 29, 7.15 – 7.45pm, 8.15 – 8.45pm, Esplanade Concourse. Free.

ONEREPUBLIC. One Republic, the band who took the world by storm with their single, Apologize, returns to Singapore on the Native Tour, with their latest single “If I Lose Myself”. Fans of the band will get to enjoy their old hits while enjoying tracks from their latest album Native. Oct 29, 8pm, The Coliseum, Hard Rock Hotel Singapore Resorts World Sentosa. OF FLOWERS, BIRDS AND SONGS - A RECITAL BY

KHOR AI MING. Soprano Khor Ai Ming will entertain audiences with a journey through the garden of nature with her songs and music. Khor also collaborates with various artists from different genres, presenting an eclectic repertoire that’ll add a magic touch to your evening. Oct 30, 8pm, Esplanade Recital Studio. John McNamara is the artist to look out for in the blues scene, as he has appeared in international acts, even opening for acts such as Joanne Shaw Taylor, Rick Price, Diesel and Shannon Knoll, as well as touring with Mr. Big Vocalist Eric Martin. Oct 30, 9pm, Sultan Jazz Club. S$15 admission.

SINGAPORE ORIGINALS: GARETH FERNANDEZ. Gareth Fernandez loves nothing more than pop/soul music heavily influenced by artistes such as Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, John Legend, Stevie Wonder and George Benson. It’s Bruno Mars meets Sara Bareilles where contemporary tunes meets music that speaks to your heart. Oct 30, 7.30pm, Timbre @ Substation. Free (min. 1 drink applies).

RE:UNITED. With line-ups such as Josh M., Small and Tony Tay, the event brings genres such as house, deep house, tech house and true classics, making it a night of unadulterated house the way it used to be. Oct 31, 9pm-3am, Home Club. Free.

HIGHLY STRUNG 3 – BACHANALIA. The innovative series of Highly Strung will feature young rising performers with T’ang Quartet performing Bach’s Art of the Fugue, forming the major movements that evening. Be prepared to be intoxicated . Oct 31, 8pm, Chijmes Hall. Tickets at S$28 at Sistic.

LAZAR THURAKKAL SEBASTINE. Lazar Thurakkai Sebastine, graded violinist with All India Radio, has played with various orchestras. The theme for Lazar’s presentations is SALLAPA, a Sanskrit text loosely translated as a “joyful conversation”, ensuring an enjoyable night for all. Nov 1 and 2, various timings, Esplanade Concourse. THE PHANTOM UNMASKED. The star of The Phantom of the Opera, Brad Little, will be accompanied by a 15 piece symphony orchestra, singing the world’s favourite songs from The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserable, Jekyll and Hyde, and many other Broadway classics. He will also be joined on stage with Shoshana Bean, who played Elphaba in the global hit musical WICKED. Nov 1 and 2, 8pm, MasterCard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands. GALA: VIVA VERDI! (SSO). SSO marks the bicentennial birth of Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi with an all-Verdi extravaganza, including semi-staged performance of Act 3 from his masterpiece, Rigoletto. Also, the Te Deum, Verdi’s last and grandest installment of his Four Sacred Pieces will also be performed by the SSO that night. Nov 1, 7.30pm, Esplanade Concer t Hall. HE SMOOTH BOTTOMS. The band, The Smooth Bottoms, play tribute to great artistes such as Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Chaka Khan and Grover Washington Jr to celebrate the music of contemporary and smooth jazz. Swing by for a great night of r&b and smooth jazz. Nov 1, 9.30pm, Blu Jaz Café. Free.

SONGS THAT KEEP US TOGETHER 3. Popular Taiwanese singers such as Zheng Yi, Ming Yang, Tang Na, Yao Ke Jie, Zhao Yong Hua will be joined with famous local guest artistes Dawn Yip and Jiu Jian in this one day concert. Be entertained by these talented singers as they belt out their hit songs for this one-night-only concert that will take you back in time. Nov 2, 4pm and 8pm, Esplanade Theatre. VIENNA BOYS’ CHOIR. The world’s favourite children’s choir will perform at a one-night-only concert at the Esplanade Concert Hall. The boys, aged 10 to 14 years old, have a repertoire that includes everything from medieval motets to Beatles and Celine Dion, from folk songs to film scores. Nov 2, 7.30pm, Esplanade Concert Hall. RICHARD CLAYDERMAN ROMANTIQUE TOUR. Touted as the Prince of Romance, classically trained pianist Clayderman promises to rope in the romantic piano tunes in his love concert, Romantique Tour Live In Singapore. With a vast discography of well over 200 albums, Romantique is arguably his highest profile release ever. Nov 2, 7.30pm, Grand Theatre MasterCard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands.
