MATCHBOX TWENTY. Multi-platinum selling American rock band, Matchbox Twenty will hold their first-ever live concert in Singapore, in support of their latest album North. RELAX AND JOGET WITH BLACK DOG BONE. Singapore Malay rock band Black Dog Bone (BDB) - this year’s recipient for the Anugerah Music Special Award - will perform Malay “joget” dance songs such as Joget Sindir Pesan, Joget Bujang Di Rantau, Joget Hiburan and more. DISCOVERING MUSIC: SOARING STRINGS. SSO’s Associate Conductor Jason Lai will take you on a tour through the largest section of the symphony orchestra - the string section, if you didn’t know it yet - with performance pieces by Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Vaughan Williams and Terry Britten. LAZAR THURAKKAL SEBASTINE IN THE SPOTLIGHT! Lazar Thurakkai Sebastine is a graded violinist, a music composer, performer and teacher. He will share a different side of himself with raga-based improvisational numbers that marry jazz and Indian sounds. He will also be joined with bass guitarist Xavier, backed by various percussions. CLAUDE’S PRISM. Claude Debussy created a unique chamber music genre, Harp Trio, in 1915. Now, three of Singapore’s most active and award-winning musicians will pay tribute to Debussy in his Sonata for Harp, Flute and Viola. Nov 12, 7.30pm, Esplanade Recital Studio. Tickets at S$27 at Sistic.

SPECTRUM: CONTEMPLATIO. The Conservatory New Music Ensemble showcases four works with unique collaborative elements: Chou Wen-Chung’s Twilight Colours, Singapore composer Kelly Tang’s Radiance, young Conservatory student composer Joshua Pangilinan’s When You Contemplate The Waters and John Adam’s Gnarly Buttons. This musical delivers “two hours of speed, energy, 3D effects, turbo-charged daredevil stunts with award-winning sets and costumes, extraordinary roller coaster choreography and a high-voltage soundtrack”. YVETTE ATIENZA QUARTET. Yvette Atienza is a pioneer of Latin and jazz vocals in the local jazz scene. Join her and Singapore jazz veterans for an exciting evening of buoyant stylings of swing, afro-brazillian and afro-cuban classics. Nov 14, 9pm, Sultan Jazz Club. Admissions S$20.

STEFANO ROVER ASIA TOUR 2013 - SINGAPORE. Come and join Italian pianist, Stefano Rover into a music journey, experiencing how the pianoforte, through three piano revolutionists, Beethoven, Schumann and Brahms, evolved into an instrument that is now considered a counterpart of an orchestra. THE WARRIOR’S HALL. The Warrior’s Hall is a celebration of LIVE original music with up-and-coming local acts in conjunction with “RIO” Tim De Cotta’s debut single release. THE SILVER STRINGS. One of Singapore’s top bands from the ’60s, The Silver Strings featuring Andy Young and Veronica Young, will be playing their hits, as well as pay tribute to some of the other local acts of the era. MOZART’S SWAN SONG (SSO). Principal Guest Conductor Okko Kamu is joined by clarinettist Kari Krikku in a series of works from the early Romantic period, including Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto. Nov 15, 7.30pm, Esplanade Concert Hall. Tickets at S$15 to S$72 at Sistic.

TAIWAN 4 HEAVENLY KINGS 2013. Four of Taiwan’s most popular singers - Shen Wen Cheng, Gao Ling Feng, Zhang Di, Ye Qi Tian - liven up the evening with their hits. Nov 16, 8pm, Resorts World Convention Centre, Compass Ballroom. Tickets from S$25 to S$148 at Sistic.

KALAA UTSAVAM 2013 TAAL EXPRESS. Taal Express uncovers the beauty and charm of Indian music traditions, using dholki (percussion instrument), tavil (percussion instrument), shennai (double reed wind instrument) and sarangi (string instruments), which is usually heard in folk music in India. SUNDOWN FESTIVAL 2013. This year’s Sundown Festival brings a gathering 10 established and up-and-coming acts from eight Asian countries, including Screw, D=OUT, AOA, Bosco Wong, Adonia Shao, Yoga Lin, Nidji, Rico Blanco, Rock Steddy and No More Tear. Sundown Festival is a Asian music central not to be missed. Nov 16, 3pm, Marina Promenade. Tickets at S$138 and S$98 at Sistic.

L.A.B. The band was created out of a love for limitless experimentation, open examination and soul. They are working on their first recording and looking forward to presenting their music at upcoming international music festivals. Nov 16, 9.30pm, BluJaz Cafe. Free.

KALAA UTSAVAM 2013 SAMARUPA: BEYOND BEAUTY. Join carnatic vocalists Sushma and Chitra Poornima as they delve into different facets of being a woman through music. Nov 17, 7.30pm, Esplanade Recital Studio. Tickets at S$28 at Sistic.

SSO CHAMBER SERIES: ACROSS THE CHANNEL. Guest pianists Yao Xiao Yun and Chung Hua Weng join the musicians of SSO for an afternoon of English and French chamber music, from Elgar’s multifaceted Three Movements to Saint-Saens’ Septet for Trumpet, String Quintet and Piano, Op. 65. NOSTALGIC SENTIMENTS.
