SINGAPORE — Local hip hop artiste Shigga Shay will be at the Padang this Sunday (April 30) as part of the JSSL International 7s football tournament.

No, he is not going to be playing on the field — instead, the guy who gave us hits such as LimPeh, Lion City Kia, Tapau and Ang Mo Pai, will be there as part of the entertainment for the event.

Shigga’s performance, which will last for about half an hour, will start at approximately 4pm at the Padang, and fans don’t even have to spend a cent: The performance is free of charge to the public, said event organisers.

Shigga has made several high profile performances in recent years, most notably during the SG50 National Day Parade in 2015, and at the White House state dinner after-party in 2016 during Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s state dinner at the invitation of former United States President Barack Obama.

JSSL Singapore Managing Director Harvey Davis said this was a “new and exciting entertainment element” of the tournament, adding that it would help to “enhance the event”.

“It is always important to follow your dreams, and to enjoy what you do in life,” said Shigga. “The JSSL International 7s has been growing from year to year since it was first started and it is my hope that many of these kids end up becoming the future football heroes in Singapore and in their own countries.”

The JSSL International 7s will be held from April 29 to May 1, and features 260 teams from 14 nations.
