SINGAPORE — The Monti jazz lounge has an ambitious line-up of events that is set to liven up the jazz scene here.

The lounge, located at the Fullerton Pavilion, aims to provide live jazz music every night of the week, and will take inspiration from iconic jazz venues such as Birdland or Village Vanguard

in New York City and Blue Note in Tokyo.

It opened last Friday (March 10) with a line-up that included Singapore jazz musician Jeremy Monteiro, who will also make regular appearances on the Monti roster.

Monteiro, who has been in the music industry for 41 years, will curate the Monti’s music programme.

Live music will include classic jazz, and also blues, soul and even skunk jive, according to a press release.

Names such as Louis Soliano, Tama Goh, Rick Smith, Andrew Lim and Melissa Tham will be featured regularly.

“Monti is poised to not only be the most beautiful jazz lounge in the world, but a true beacon of great jazz. I’m very excited to be part of this endeavor,” Monteiro said in a statement.

The multi-concept space — run by 1-Group, responsible for 1-Altitude — will host international names, as well as up-and-coming jazz local acts, in the future, according to the statement.

The lounge, which sits in the space that Spanish restaurant Catalunya used to occupy, also features a set dinner menu and jazz-inspired cocktails. An open-air rooftop terrace with a separate bar is another space where guests can mingle and take in the views of the bay.
