MOD SWING 2014. With the finest talents right from our own heartland, such as The Pinholes, Crackerjack, The Zozi, Lion City Ska Jazz Ensemble, Force Vomit, Dj Baba from Big Up Sound System and DJs from Singapore Soul Club. June 14, from 5:30pm, The Substation. Admission from S$20 to S$25.

MUSICAL TALES: THE ART OF SUZHOU AND TIANJIN NARRATIVE SONG. The Ding Yi Music Company presents an intimate concert starring two leading performers of these vocal arts: The rising stars of Pingtan music Zhang Ling Ping and Tang Wei Yu and acclaimed Meihua Dagu artist Yang Yun. June 14, 3 pm and 7pm, Esplanade Recital Studio. Tickets are S$25 from Sistic.

M.I.S.CELLANEOUS. The third instalment of this genre-bending weekend features Malaysia’s synthpop trio Tenderfist, Indonesia’s indie folk duo Tristan and local rock and blues outfit The Cheating Sons. Until June 15, various timings, Esplanade Outdoor Theatre. Free admission.

BRIDGING FRONTIERS. Bringing together Western and Chinese Classical Music, and featuring Singapore’s most recognizable and respected classical musicians, Bridging Frontiers is a celebration of orchestral music. June 21, 7:30pm, Esplanade Concert Hall. Tickets from S$32 to S$90 from Sistic.

STRINGFELLOWS BY T’ANG QUARTET. Four like-minded professional musicians performing a mid-day musical pick-me-up with sweet treats from Schubert, Wolf and Borodin, before rounding off the siesta with Mendelssohn. June 22, 3pm and 5:30pm, Esplanade Recital Studio. Tickets are S$32 from Sistic.

THE TRANSITIONS TOUR 2014. Visiting Singapore for the first time, Norwegian trio MoE performs at The Substation with Singapore band The Observatory, and promises a night of blistering music. June 22, 7pm, The Substation Theatre. Tickets at S$20 (and S$25 from the door).

100 BANDS FESTIVAL. At this massive party, artists and music-lovers of all kinds gather to celebrate, listen to, learn about, and appreciate local music. Featuring original local music in various genres, from rock to indie, electronic, and even some soul.
