The Seventh Sense (Jane Zhang) | 2/5
SINGAPORE – Jane Zhang’s latest album isn’t spectacular. Although the Chinese singer is known for her vocal prowess and ability to reach high notes, her newest offering is utterly unmemorable. Apart from her two English tracks, Unwind and Get Out Of My Life, the rest of the songs in The Seventh Sense sound almost like any other Mandopop tune you would hear on the radio – even though some of the material is written by big name songwriters like Jay Chou and Khalil Fong. But are Zhang and her team to blame, or does the fault lie with the fact that there simply aren’t enough good songs in Mandopop to support its talent? Guess we will never find out.
