Venus And Mars [Deluxe Edition] (Paul McCartney & Wings) | 5/5
SINGAPORE — Originally released in 1975 at the apex of ‘70s rock, Venus And Mars confirmed that Paul McCartney would be the most successful ex-Beatle. The album receives the deluxe edition treatment with a 2CDs/1DVD package. The first disc provides diehard fans with a brand new remastering (at Abbey Road Studios), which is already worth the price of admission. As someone who has listened to this album a gazillion times, the latest remastering brings out textures that were not evident on previous versions and thus, there is little doubt that longtime Macca fans will thoroughly enjoy this. Disc 2 is of course the bonus CD that includes the hit single Junior’s Farm (the first song I ever performed in public at 15), and rare and previously unreleased songs like Soily and Sally G. Finally, there is a DVD featuring previously unreleased and exclusive content.
