Practical Guide to ZoukOut

SINGAPORE — After making its rounds in Boracay, Tokyo and Hong Kong, ZoukOut is finally here.

SINGAPORE — After making its rounds in Boracay, Tokyo and Hong Kong, ZoukOut is finally here.

Featuring more than 40 performers over three stages today and tomorrow, the line-up for the 16th edition of ZoukOut includes big-name international electronic music acts such as Dutch DJ-musician Hardwell, Montreal-born DJ-producer Tiga, Russian-German DJ Zedd and Dutch superstar Martin Garrix, as well as Singaporean DJs MMXJ, Lenerd and Andrew Tang.

And with more than 40,000 party-goers expected over the two nights at Siloso Beach, one might feel a tad overwhelmed.

To help you, we have prepared a handy guide:

GETTING IN AND OUT

There will be tens of thousands of people arriving at and leaving Siloso Beach each night, so come up with your exit strategy ahead of time — especially if you have not booked a hotel room at Sentosa. In addition to the usual car, bus, MRT, taxi and Sentosa Express options, festival attendees can also catch the ZoukOut Shuttle Bus. It will start ferrying people from HarbourFront Bus Interchange to Siloso Beach from 8pm on both nights, and from Siloso Beach back to HarbourFront Bus Interchange from 2am. New users of the car-sharing app Grab can also get S$10 off their first GrabCar ride with the promo code ZOUKOUTNEW, while existing Grab users can get S$5 off their rides with the Promo Code ZOUKOUT16.

WHAT YOU SHOULD EAT

You will not be allowed to bring your own food and drinks to the festival. However, there will be plenty of options at ZoukOut’s new food village that has vendors including Bird Bird, Park Bench Deli, Decker Barbecue, Three Buns and Teppei. Stay hydrated with bottled water, which will be sold on-site. Do not worry if you forget to bring cash — credit cards and EZ-Link cards will be accepted.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING

It will not exactly be fun to dance with a backpack, so pack only small and essential items — your keys, EZ-Link card, cash, credit card, a portable phone charger and sunglasses to protect your eyes for the sunrise. Just to be safe, you will also want to bring a waterproof case for your mobile phone. Selfie sticks are strictly prohibited, so bring a friend with a long arm.
