SINGAPORE – Submissions for nominations have begun for this year’s Anugerah Planet Muzik (APM), which returns for its 13th edition to recognise outstanding talents and achievements in the regional Malay music industry.

APM 2014 is organised by MediaCorp’s Malay Broadcast Division, Suria, Warna 94.2FM and Ria 89.7FM, and will be held at 8.30pm on Friday, October 17 at Suntec Singapore. The music awards ceremony will showcase collaborations between artistes from Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Malay music works must be released for public consumption between 1 January 2013 and 30 June 2014 to qualify for the nominations. Nominees will be revealed in media conferences held in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Jakarta, Indonesia. Music lovers from the region will also be given the opportunity to vote for their favourite songs and artistes in fan-driven categories at facebook.com/anugerah.planet upon the release of nominations.

“APM continues to be a breakthrough for the region’s superstars and stars in the making,” said Zakiah Halim, senior vice president of MediaCorp’s Malay Broadcast Division. “For 13 years, we have seen many artistes, composers, lyricists and other industry practitioners who have won our coveted APM trophies, becoming more successful and creating waves in the region. With the introduction of an additional award to recognize collaborative works, we hope that APM will be the catalyst in synthesizing the various sounds of the Nusantara region.”
