SINGAPORE — Those who love listening to music on turntables will want to mark this on their calendars: The date for the second edition of The Analog Assembly (http://fb.me/theanalogassembly) has
been announced.

Held at The Projector at Golden Mile Tower, the event will take place on Feb 20, and will feature a vinyl buy/sell/trade fair with new and used records on offer.

For the trade fair, dubbed The X-Change, the organiser has curated an eclectic mix of “about 15” vinyl record vendors, including established local vinyl dealers For The Record, Straits Records and Vinylicious Records; as well as local record labels such as Kitchen Label, Ujikaji Records and 4IB Records; and individual vinyl sellers putting up their own collections for sale.

But it’s not just about music on vinyl. It will also have a live performance from Singaporean singer-songwriter Sean Lam, who trades under the stage moniker Hanging Up The Moon; followed by an all-vinyl DJ set by one of Singapore’s most acclaimed turntablist, DJ Koflow, at the new outdoor bar, The Great Escape.

Lam will perform some of the signature acoustic-folk tunes from Hanging Up The Moon’s (critically-acclaimed) albums, The Biggest Lie In The World and Immaterial (and, yes, you can buy the record at the event). On the other hand, Koflow, who has shared the stage with international acts such as Kanye West, Nas, Jazzy Jeff, Missy Elliot and the Black Eyed Peas, will be tapping into the R&B/hip-hop oeuvre for his set.

“It’s like a community meet-up of people who collect and appreciate vinyl ... an audiophile gathering where people share their knowledge and passion for music,” said a spokesperson for the event. “Last year’s event was quite well-attended ... when the event ended, the space was still three-quarters full — that’s why they’re doing another one this year.”

Based in Singapore, The Analog Assembly was established in 2015 as an organiser of pop-up events that aims to champion the analogue music culture, and provide forums for the meeting of like-minded analogue music aficionados.

According to them, it also aims to provide showcase opportunities for local music and DJ acts, and wants to act as a platform for the promotion of local vinyl record labels and releases. Christopher Toh

The Analog Assembly takes place on Feb 20, 2pm to 8pm,
at The Projector, Level 5, Golden Mile Tower,
6001 Beach Road. Admission is free.
