Who wants to live forever?

LONDON — The secret to living forever is to “go to church on a Sunday” and to be “clean and healthy” with “plenty of exercise”. At least that’s what The Rolling Stones’ guitarist, Keith Richards, said when the band members took part in their first-ever Twitter Q&A.

“I ain’t there yet! So far so good,” Richards added. He also mentioned that his advice to his 20-year-old self would be to “get ready for a pretty fast ride”.

Drummer Charlie Watts divulged that he does not own a mobile phone or have his own Twitter account, which led to the hashtag #CharliestoocoolforTwitter trending. He added that he still gets butterflies on stage. “Even if I played in a bar with two people at it, just sitting at the drums gives me butterflies,” he said.

Guitarist Ronnie Wood revealed his musical influences — Mozart and Chuck Berry — and that he used to collect beer mats, but now collects lighters. When asked which other member of the band he would like to share a room with for one night, Wood said: “I’ve done that with everyone in the band ... with this band, Keith and me we are like bookends and we can live in a cupboard together if we had to.”

Singer Mick Jagger revealed that the secret to keeping his voice so strong is karaoke. “Practise! You have to do it, you have to do warm-ups and look after yourself. There’s a regimen: You do a warm-up before the show and before the tour starts, I do a month of rehearsing. So, every day I have to do a regimen and after a couple of weeks of that I do karaoke — solo karaoke, but not in a smoke-filled room.”

Holding up a vinyl version of the classic album, Sticky Fingers, the singer revealed what fans can look forward to with the re-release. “One is a live album, one is the original album, with a real zipper on it — it’s pretty hefty,” Jagger said, adding that it will include a track with Eric Clapton playing Brown Sugar and alternate versions of some songs.
