SINGAPORE — Rebecca Lim and Elvin Ng will be turning up the cheese in a fun romantic comedy called Sealed With A Kiss, premiering next week on MediaCorp TV Channel 8.

Ng plays a jinxed homebody who is shunned by everyone because he brings bad luck to anyone within a three-metre radius. His luck later turns, however, when he meets Lim’s character who, after receiving CPR from Ng, finds that she can no longer use her glib tongue to lie her way to gain.

But at one point, it was Lim who was shunned by everyone on set, revealed Ng.

“Rebecca was ill for three weeks. In the show, people are supposed to shun me. But actually, in real life, we were all shunning her, like, ‘Don’t come near me.’” On top of that, “I had to kiss her so many times. It was like, ‘Oh, yeah, share the germs...’”

The miraculous part was that he didn’t actually catch any germs. “I was totally healthy throughout. And I kissed her many times, you know — she had a really bad sore throat, a runny nose, everything. But somehow I didn’t. Maybe it’s love? Some people said, ‘Maybe it’s Systema — anti-bacterial,’” he added, with a laugh.

Sealed With A Kiss has the feel of Korean idol dramas, shared Ng. “It’s quite fun sometimes just to do light-hearted dramas and not think too much. I like the show — the discussions about love are very romantic. I can see girls going, ‘Awww’.”

Xiang Yun, who plays Ng’s adoptive aunt, added: “Just from looking at the cast, you can tell this is an idol drama. There is a handsome young guy and a beautiful girl. And there are a few seniors who pop up here and there like clowns.” Self-deprecating humour aside, Xiang Yun said the script made her laugh out loud, so she has high hopes for the drama.

Catch Sealed With A Kiss starting Aug 27, weekdays at 9pm, on MediaCorp TV Channel 8.
