Felicia Chin rejoins MediaCorp

SINGAPORE -- Ending speculation about her career path, Felicia Chin has signed a two-year contract with MediaCorp.

SINGAPORE -- Ending speculation about her career path, Felicia Chin has signed a two-year contract with MediaCorp.

Back in 2010, the 29-year-old announced that she was leaving the entertainment scene to pursue a degree in Business Administration as her contract with MediaCorp came to an end. Last year, she announced that she had decided to give up her studies and return to acting.

Since then, she has taken on several projects including the Toggle telemovie, Hongbaos And Kisses, and the MediaCorp TV Channel U drama Scrum!, and is currently filming for the upcoming MediaCorp TV Channel 8 drama, In The Name Of Love.

Of her new contract, Chin said: “There were some talks involved, but I came to this decision because I think it’s a great time to be back for local television, and I think the company was very sincere as well. I think there are still a lot of roles that I can do and, I think, learn from as well. The company has been giving me a lot of opportunities and I think they are great opportunities that (allow) audiences (to) see a different side of me.”

What’s more, “The company has the same view as me on the direction I should take from now on (following) my comeback. We think that audiences should see a more mature side of me, with me taking on more challenging roles. That was what I wanted for my career because I feel challenged and very motivated to push myself to greater limits for my acting.”

Calling the terms of the contract were “pretty good”, Chin added: “I think it was quite an easy decision because I think the opportunities are just right and I would love to be even more involved with the audiences on TV, so I really think it was a good decision to make and I would wish to grow as an actor before taking my next step.”

What might that next step be? “I would love to go overseas or start something of my own. I will just take things one step at a time,” she told TODAY.

Catch the last episode of Scrum! on Wednesday (March 26) at 8pm on MediaCorp TV Channel U.
