Felicia Chin takes our app-titude test

SINGAPORE — Felicia Chin was one of the first local celebrities to start using Snapchat, which she finds almost more “addictive” than Instagram. (She has 88,300 Instagram followers to date.) She also has fond memories of the blog she started during her first years as an actress. We put this social media butterfly through a quick app-titude test to find out just what is going on in her database.

Q: Describe an app that exists only in your fantasies.

A: As a child, I would have my teddy bears around me on my bed, and every night, we would go to a different secret island. And I would press imaginary buttons on the wall, and whatever food I wanted would appear. Maybe, there could be an app that delivers whatever you want to eat by drone. You can see that I like food! My mum was very health-conscious and I was not allowed to eat a lot of things when I was young. We ate a lot of raw lotus root, raw cucumbers, capsicums and carrots. At KFC, I was allowed to eat only the meat, not the fried skin. So maybe that’s why I dreamt of food at night.

Q: If you were an Instagram filter, which one would you be?

A: I might be Juno or Lo-Fi. I use those quite a bit. They brighten everything up. I try to make my pictures as bright and colourful as possible. That’s my personality. I just want them to be attractive and (show) a happy side.

Q: What kind of app do you think will be in next, after Snapchat?

A: Many people would say virtual reality — I mean, that’s what Facebook is investing in and stuff like that. Maybe something that can appear right in front of you, like a Mission Impossible kind of thing, where the screen just appears in front of you. Technology is scary sometimes!
