Jayley Woo and Julie Tan on their toes for PSC 2014

SINGAPORE -- Greetings and salutations, fellow stargazers! Our artistes are busy rehearsing their song-and-dance items for this year’s President’s Star Charity concert, and even though some of them have stage fright, they’re still giving it their all.

SINGAPORE -- Greetings and salutations, fellow stargazers! Our artistes are busy rehearsing their song-and-dance items for this year’s President’s Star Charity concert, and even though some of them have stage fright, they’re still giving it their all.

Pierre Png, Chua Enlai, Suhaimi Yusof, Rozz, Nadiah M Din and Sonia Chew will be lip synching while impersonating iconic performers; Tay Ping Hui, Shabir, Shaun Jansen and Sufie Rashid will be challenging Tabitha Nauser, Gayle Nerva, Vanessa Fernandez and Pavitra to a sing-off; and Jayley Woo, Julie Tan, Seraph Sun, Bonnie Loo, Bharathi, Gurmit, Ian Fang, James Seah, Jeremy Chan and Joakim will be dancing off in a group challenge.

Julie has been dancing since the age of three, but Jayley, in her own words, is “not at all” good at dancing. “She can dance pretty well,” said Julie, encouragingly.

Which of the guys in their dance group would they choose for a partner dance? “Jeremy,” said Jayley. “Because he’s very goofy… During practice I think he would be the humourous kind.”

“I would pick Joaquim because he’s my senior. We studied in NAFA together. So I’m kind of more familiar with him. He’s not bad. I’ve seen him dance. He’s pretty good,” Julie said.

Dance practice is one thing, but live shows give the girls the jitters – even though “once you’re on stage you basically have fun”, Julie said. “Being backstage is always the worst feeling ever,” Jayley said. “The anticipation!”

“You’re scared that you might fall. And what if you forget your moves? That freaks me out,” Julie said. “And it’s quite ironic that we are artistes but we have stage fright.” “But nobody needs to know,” said Jayley, sagely. “We are pretty much like actors!” Julie laughed.

Oh, wait – you are actors, my darlings. So, break a leg!

Catch the President’s Star Charity 2014 live on Nov 2 at 7.30pm on MediaCorp TV Channel 5.
