LONDON — Jon Hamm will star in a feature-length Christmas Special episode of Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror, due to air this December.

The episode will consist of three interwoven narratives, all of which will star Hamm, who became famous for his role as Don Draper on HBO’s Mad Men. He will be joined by Oona Chaplin (who played Talisa Stark on Game Of Thrones) and Rafe Spall, who featured in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus and Ang Lee’s Life Of Pi.

In a recent Telegraph interview, Hamm spoke about his admiration for Black Mirror. “It’s f***ing brilliant, a terrifying satire, an incredible Twilight Zone-esque series,” he said. “I look at shows like that and I go, ‘I could do that for the rest of my life’.”

Black Mirror first aired in 2011, with a mini-season consisting of three stand alone episodes. It was followed by a second mini-season in 2013. The show explores the dark side of our increasing reliance on technology and social media, with stories focusing on everything from reality television to the digital footprint left behind after a person dies.

An episode from the first season, The Entire History Of You, was optioned by the actor Robert Downey Jr, who is considering making a film adaptation. THE DAILY TELEGRAPH
