SINGAPORE – Students of Singapore Polytechnic were in for a surprise earlier today (Oct 1), when Gary Kang, who gained popularity throughout Asia with his music and variety show appearances such as Running Man, paid a surprise visit to the school.

The Korean celebrity was in Singapore to film a brand new reality programme called School’s OUT. The series will feature surprise school visits outside of Korea made by famous K-pop artistes. This first series will feature will episodes filmed in Hong Kong and Singapore.

The school’s selection is based on the youths’ support by online submissions at schoolsout.channelm.asia.

Kang’s appearance at Singapore Polytechnic was disguised as a career talk, until they started playing Leessang’s chart-topping hip-hop hit, Girl Who Can’t Leave Boy Who Can’t Break Up. (Kang is part of that hip-hop outfit.)

He was accompanied by a five-piece band, featuring students from the Diploma in Music and Audio Technology. Throughout the session Kang engaged with the polytechnic students via various games.

Student Jeris Lau, 18, said: “I would have never thought that Gary will be in Singapore, let alone be in my school, and I am really pleased to be able to shadow him, to experience how he performs and engage with his fans.”

Kang will be at a fan meet-and-greet at Wisma Atria tomorrow (Oct 2) at 3pm.

School’s OUT will premiere on Nov 14 at 8.30pm on channel M (StarHub TV Ch 824 / Ch 874 (HD) and Singtel TV 518 (HD))
