MediaCorp and ABC Australia sign partnership agreement

SINGAPORE — MediaCorp and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) have signed a partnership agreement between their international platforms.

The agreement will see both companies exploring opportunities for future programme and content exchange, as well as co-production between their various platforms on television, radio and online.

The partnership is applicable to the whole array of media properties that both companies own, from traditional free-to-air platforms to digital entities.

“All of our products and brands are known for high-quality content and journalism,” said Debra Soon, MediaCorp’s head of News and Premier, at yesterday’s signing held at the Australian High Commissioner’s Residence. “This partnership is about getting better content for our viewers, getting the best for our viewers, being able to serve our viewers in this much more connected digital world.”

“There are so many opportunities for us to explore, said Lynley Marshall, CEO of ABC International, adding that the two companies will look at sharing news resources. “We are also looking at digital services and how we can share content there — how we might create a reciprocal window on Australia and Singapore where we exchange programmes that highlight our respective countries in terms of tourism and business, and share programmes relevant to our audiences.” Hon Jingyi
