SINGAPORE — Toggle viewers will now have more reasons to binge-watch as Mediacorp announces the launch of 11 new digital programmes on its bilingual entertainment and lifestyle portal (http://www.toggle.sg/).

The latest batch of Toggle Originals, comprising comedy, drama and thriller shows, will feature artistes such as Kumar, Mark Lee, Dennis Chew, among others. These will be rolled out beginning next month on the portal, which can be accessed on multiple devices such as computers, mobile phones, tablets, Smart TVs and game consoles.

Kicking things off on Feb 1 is A Selfie’s Tale, a short English comedy about a narcissistic gym instructor. It stars Joshua Tan, Adan Tan Yu Zhi and 987FM deejay Sonia Chew, who makes her acting debut.

In March, you’ll have Run Rachael Run, a comedy about a young intern in a small production firm. It stars Alaric Tay, Vernetta Lopez, Suhaimi Yusof, Roy Lee Fei Fei and Hey Gorgeous runner-up Hor Ying Ying, In May, comedians Kumar and Mark Lee will host the satirical Double Trouble, which will be about all things Singaporean.

Also slated are English-language sketch comedy Life Spam, which is about the millennial generation; the English-language mini-series 6ixteen, where everyone wakes up to the disappearance of people over the age of 16; a Chinese crime thriller mini-series called Trapped Minds; a Chinese dramedy from the viewpoint of a female armed forces regular titled YES Madam!; and I Want To Be A Star!, a trans-media concept about a group of television extras, which kicks off as a reality show on Mediacorp TV Channel 8 before it becomes a web drama.

The creation of the new batch was the result of positive feedback from viewers regarding previous Toggle Originals such as Sabo, Mystic Whispers and Toggle Talk.

“Our viewers are getting more sophisticated, expecting to be excited by content they can relate to and artistes they can emulate. WE hope that the 11 carefully curated new products will strike a chord with our viewers as we continue to strive to meet their varied content consumption needs,” said Anil Nihalani, head of Connected Media, Mediacorp.

The shows were done in collaboration with digital production houses Maker Studios, Big 3 Media, Tree Potatoes and Mediacorp Studios.

Said Dorothy Lai, director of Public Service Broadcast, Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA): “We are glad to support Mediacorp in developing more original local content on Toggle under MDA’s PSB Contestable Fund Scheme. As media consumption shifts online, Singapore viewers can look forward to a greater variety of local content on Toggle. Singapore content producers will also have more opportunities to create innovative content to engage a wider audience, especially the youth, beyond our free-to-air television platforms.”
