SINGAPORE – Nursing-themed drama You Can Be An Angel returns for a second season with a focus on the personal lives of the nursing professionals played by Zoe Tay, Xiang Yun, Bryan Wong, Rebecca Lim, Aloysius Pang and Xu Bin.

“The first season was more about patient cases. This one is more about what the nurses face in their personal lives,” said Tay. “My character discovers that she has cancer. Even though she’s a nurse, she goes through the same struggles any patient would. At the same time, she still has to encourage her own patients.”

On top of that, her partner, played by Zheng Geping, decides to leave her. However, “She’s lucky and meets another person who treats her well” – played by new addition to the cast, Thomas Ong.

Also joining the existing cast is Carrie Wong, who plays a student nurse caught in a love triangle involving Pang and Xu.

Big challenges await the characters of Bryan Wong and Lim, who, while attempting to raise their child, run into serious marital problems. Lim revealed that this was one of her most challenging roles to date, having played several light-hearted roles in the last few years. “There are a lot of heavy scenes. I have to play a mother and show motherly love. I’m very far away from motherhood!” she laughed.

The other challenge, of course, is working with the four-year-old child who plays their son. “You can’t change your lines – he’ll say, ‘No, you’re wrong. And after three takes, he’ll say, ‘I don’t want to do it any more,” Bryan exclaimed.

Catch You Can Be An Angel 2 starting Nov 1, weekdays at 9pm on Mediacorp TV Channel 8.
