Yvonne Lim is expecting her second child

SINGAPORE — Actress Yvonne Lim, who moved to Taiwan with her Taiwanese husband Alex Tien and son AJ in May last year, has revealed that she is expecting her second child and is now in her second trimester. She is due to deliver in January next year.

Speaking to TODAY over the phone from Taipei on Monday (July 25), Lim, 39, said she was initially unaware of her pregnancy and “was still happily eating sashimi”. It was only when she realised that her period had delayed that she took a pregnancy test, which turned out to be positive.

“Alex is happier than me. He wants many many kids, four or five,” she quipped. “Sometimes, I want to slap him,” she added with a chuckle.

Lim, who got married in September 2014 and gave birth to AJ in December that year, says she is calm about the arrival of her second child. She felt “more kan cheong” (anxious) for the first child as “everything (was happening for the) first time, you didn’t know what to expect”, she explained. The second one will be more relaxed, she said. “I will be more chill.”

Currently, she is still undecided on whether she wants to deliver the second baby in Taiwan or Singapore. “(I am) still in a dilemma. Citizenship of the baby, give birth where — does it make a difference?”

While she has visited a few confinement centres in Taiwan, Lim is still exploring her options. “We went to visit a few confinements centres – one that Jay Chou’s wife, (model-actress) Hannah Quinlivan stayed at ... We are still looking around. We heard that confinement centres in Taiwan are really good, really relaxed, like staying in a hotel.”

Asked what she has been up to since her move to Taiwan, Lim said she is “a temporary stay-at-home mum”.

“Right now, “I am taking care of AJ, doing what a mother should do – reading bed time stories, reading abcs...He (AJ) likes to talk a lot now,” she added.

Having recently moved to a new apartment, she has also been busy packing and unpacking stuff, she said.

“I am the primary caregiver. making sure he naps well,” Lim added.
