SINGAPORE — Zoe Tay wants to work again with Eric Khoo, and she is not being subtle about it.

“I’ve always admired Eric Khoo as a director,” said the actress at a press conference today (Sept 10) at Goodwood Park Hotel for the telemovie Recipe, which premieres on Sept 29 on Channel 8.

Commissioned by the Health Promotion Board, it tells the story of a chef, played by Tay, who learns how to relate to her ageing mother (Li Ying Zhu) after she begins to show signs of dementia. From specialising in French cuisine, she ends up learning more about her mother’s curry chicken rice.

“I’ve been looking for opportunities to work with him, and when the company approached me and told me that he would be producing the film, I accepted the project immediately. And I was even happier, after I found out that he would be directing the film.”

Tay added that she had a good time collaborating with the Mee Pok Man director, who, in turn, had described her as a “spontaneous” and “emotive” actress.

Said Tay: “Khoo encourages the actors, and gives us full rein to explore. I hope, if there is an opportunity in the future, Khoo will look for me! I’m free to accept films!”

Recipe premieres on Sept 29, 9pm, on MediaCorp TV Channel 8.
