GE2015: Workers' Party unveils final batch of candidates, campaign video

SINGAPORE — The Workers' Party (WP) today (Aug 31) unveiled its final batch of candidates, completing the party's candidate introductions for this General Election.

SINGAPORE — The Workers' Party (WP) today (Aug 31) unveiled its final batch of candidates, completing the party's candidate introductions for this General Election. They are Leon Perera, 44; Bernard Chen, 29 and Frieda Chan, 39.

Mr Perera is an Oxford-trained Chief Executive at a research and consultancy firm, while Mr Chen, the party's youngest candidate, is a project executive at Ang Chin Moh Foundation. Ms Chan is a medical social worker. She last contested in Moulmein-Kallang GRC in GE2011.

WP also launched its campaign video for this GE.

Prior to today's introductions, the party unveiled 16 candidates and also announced that their nine incumbent Members of Parliament the party would defend their seats. In total, the WP is expected to field 28 candidates for the coming elections

The WP plans to contest in five GRCs and five SMCs: Aljunied GRC, East Coast GRC, Marine Parade GRC, Jalan Besar GRC, Nee Soon GRC, Hougang SMC, Punggol East SMC, Fengshan SMC, Sengkang West SMC and MacPherson SMC.

In GE 2011, the party fielded a total of 23 candidates across four GRCs and four SMCs.
