Homeboy Nathan Hartono enters finals of Sing! China

Nathan Hartono wowed the crowds and judges of Sing! China with his rendition of Eagles' Desperado and Angus Tong's Can't Forget.

Homegrown singer Nathan Hartono has made it into the finals of reality singing competition Sing! China with his performance of Eagles' tune Desperado and Angus Tung's song Can't Forget in the semi-finals episode which aired last night (Sept 30) on Zhejiang TV.

The 25-year-old was among the 12 semi-finalists, and is the only mentee from judge Jay Chou's team to qualify for the finals held at the Beijing National Stadium, where he will face off against five other singers. Hartono also received the highest score of the evening, with 47 nods from the 53 judges and 333 votes from 350 audience members.

The singer had previously written on his Facebook on Sept 6 that he's "extremely grateful" for the support, and that makes it less lonely in a foreign land. He was recently back in town last week and told The New Paper that he has been approached by music companies in China. To that, he said "it would be a waste not to" continue a career in Chinese music.

The finals of Sing! China will be aired next week on Oct 7.
