YSL’s Serum-in-Creme and CC Creme explained

SINGAPORE — You can “reset” your skin to its strong and healthy self with just one product.

That’s the bold claim that renowned brand Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) Beaute makes with its Forever Youth Liberator Serum-In-Creme (S$269).

The Serum-In-Creme is a water-in-oil emulsion that delivers an intensive anti-ageing treatment suited for all skin types, including sensitive skin. Caroline Negre, YSL Beaute’s international scientific communication director, said it works due to its high concentration of Glycanactif, a trifecta of glycans specially formulated to help restore your skin’s youthful beauty.

As we age, said Negre, our skin produces less glycans, elastin and collagen. Coupled with environmental aggressors such as stress and pollution, our skin’s ageing process speeds up.

“We have observed that there are glycan receptors on the surface of your face, so they look like small antennae,” said Negre. “With age, you have fewer of those glycans, so the communication in the skin is disrupted and less efficient. That is why in this cream, the concentration of active components is multiplied by three to really speed up skin’s regeneration process.”

Negre recommended applying the Serum-in-Creme twice a day (a lighter layer in the morning and a thicker one at night) for 28 consecutive days.

If, on the other hand, you’d like to revive radiance and combat spots, YSL Beaute’s CC Creme Forever Light Creator (S$79) may be the right option. It is crafted with a cocktail of three glycans that target skin’s luminosity: C-Glycan to refine texture, P-Glycan to prevent the formation of spots and X-Glycan to target skin’s density.

“When we created our glycan complex for the Forever Light Creator (range), it showed that glycans are able to reconnect and boost the synthesis of new glycans to restore skin’s balance,” said Negre, adding that the CC Creme’s combination of glycan complexes helps combat pigmentation.

“We have been able to show that the glycan active can connect to the keratinocytes melanin receptors and block or limit transfers. From what we know, if you want to boost skin’s translucency, your skin needs to be very strong and full of glycans.”

The CC Creme comes in three shades — Lavender to brighten your complexion, Rose for a healthy glow with a pinkish luminosity and Apricot for that golden radiance of healthy skin.
