Crowds flock to Singapore Motorshow 2016

More than 58,000 visitors took in the sights and sounds at the Singapore Motorshow 2016, which was held at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre from Jan 14 to 17, surpassing last year’s attendance figure of 52,000 visitors.

More than 58,000 visitors took in the sights and sounds at the Singapore Motorshow 2016, which was held at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre from Jan 14 to 17, surpassing last year’s attendance figure of 52,000 visitors.

This year’s show was expanded to two levels and saw more than 20 local car launches, as well as stunt driver Russ Swift’s slick display of precision driving and appearances by Mediacorp artistes such as Tim Oh, Jean Danker, Lim Pei Fen and Thomas Ong.

“We’re thrilled at the response to the Singapore Motorshow this year,” said Mr Glenn Tan, president of the Motor Traders Association of Singapore.

“From the always-packed Russ Swift stunt performances to the live radio shows, contests and lucky draws, we are very pleased to see families enjoying the many experiences on offer at the Motorshow. We will certainly look to build on this year’s momentum for the next edition in 2017.”

Added Ms Jessie Sng, head of Men, Women, Parents Customer Group of Mediacorp: “Mediacorp is proud to be the partner of the Singapore Motorshow for the second year in a row. The event’s continued success is a testament of our joint commitment to delivering a strong product that audiences want.”

HIGH TRAFFIC BENEFITS EXHIBITORS

The large crowds at the Singapore Motorshow 2016 was encouraging news for exhibitors like Infiniti. The brand, which launched its new QX80 at the show, said that it attracted much interest from potential buyers.

Said Ms Gina Tan, assistant general manager of Infiniti Singapore: “The turnout at our booth was good. The Infiniti brand is still relatively young in the market and we value this platform for gaining further exposure. We also had our Infiniti Q50 and facelifted Infiniti Q70 on display which attracted many enquiries from visitors and we managed to convert this interest into actual sales, which was encouraging.”

Mr Victor Kwan, managing director of Jaguar Land Rover, Wearnes Automotive, felt that the Singapore Motorshow offered “an excellent experience in allowing new customers to get up close and interact with our Jaguar Land Rover range, including the Jaguar XF and the Range Rover Evoque”.

The strong turnout was encouraging news for Mr David Chung, senior marketing manager at Trans Eurokars. “Many potential buyers were enquiring about Mazda models, with the Skyactiv Technology for fuel efficiency drawing them to the brand.”

Lexus was another active exhibitor at the Singapore Motorshow, launching the Lexus GS F, facelifted GS and IS Turbo. According to Mr William Choo, commercial director for Lexus, these models attracted “strong attention and interest”.

“We are truly privileged to be a part of the Singapore Motorshow once again and are delighted with the overall event,” he added.
