Mercedes lifts the lid on its C-Class

Much attention has also been paid to safety, and standard equipment includes the Attention Assist system, which monitors a driver’s inputs and warns them if it detects they are inattentive or drowsy. Collision Prevention Assist Plus issues visual proximity warnings and an additional audible collision warning. This system includes Adaptive Brake Assist, which can boost brake pressure if the situation calls for it, or brake autonomously at up to 200kmh if the threat of a collision is still present and the driver is unresponsive, reducing the severity of any impact. The C 180 Cabriolet is powered by a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder engine producing 156hp and 250Nm of torque. The C300 Cabriolet uses a 2-litre powerplant producing 245hp and 370Nm of torque. The former completes the 0-100kmh in 8.9 seconds while the latter takes care of business in 6.4 seconds.

Drivers hoping to make a grand entrance with the top down while keeping their perfectly coiffed hair in place have not been forgotten either. The optional Aircap system helps deflect the wind and reduce in-cockpit turbulence when the roof is lowered. SCOTT MARSH
