Singapore — Meet the face-lifted version of the Volvo XC60 sport utility vehicle (SUV). Launched in 2008, the XC60 was the first of a new kind of Volvo — one that looked exciting and had the handling to match.
That it combined this with five-door practicality and generous cargo space means the SUV is still one of Volvo’s most popular models. The new machine you see here gets a bulging bonnet, new lights and grille plus colour-contrast off-road style bumpers.
How does it drive?
The XC60 is dynamically accomplished enough that it doesn’t need fancy electronics. The 2.0l turbocharged engine and six-speed dual-clutch gearbox prioritise smoothness, but the car’s far from slow in a straight line and rewards keen drivers, while preserving comfort.
Why should I buy one?
It’s got all the features a luxury SUV should have, such as multimedia infotainment, keyless entry and a powered rear hatch.
New equipment includes swivelling xenon lights and the active TFT-display driviwng instruments which are crisp, lag-free and customisable.
It’s more expensive that its direct rival, the Volkswagen Tiguan, but also packs a legion of Volvo safety equipment, including six airbags and the low-speed collision avoidance system, City Safety.
The XC60 was the first sexy-looking Volvo to encourage bad behaviour, but it’s grown ever more saintly this time round.
