Cavalia

Movies Under The Star: Pacific Rim

Head down to The Star Vista to enjoy free weekly screenings of blockbuster movies amid lush greenery at the mall’s breezy Star Plaza. Tonight’s movie is Pacific Rim. In addition, spend a minimum of S$200 at any Star Vista shop to redeem a Gold Star Ticket for a group of four. Gold Star Ticket holders will enjoy free food and drinks, such as Cedele’s cookies, Lindt’s chocolates, Pezzo’s pizza and Watami’s teba karaage while seated in the exclusive Gold Star area during the screening. Made in Singapore Preview Exhibition

In celebration of Singapore’s 50th birthday next year, the National Heritage Board has launched a preview of the 50 Made In Singapore Products exhibition, featuring 20 products. These include a Rollei camera, a set of toys by Blue Box, Tiger Balm medicated oil, Khong Guan biscuits and Bibi & Baba apparel. Through the use of text, photographs, old advertisements and memorabilia, the exhibition seeks to raise public awareness of Singapore products and instil a sense of pride in the nation’s manufacturing achievements.

Motoring Heritage Day 2014

In partnership with Bosch, the annual Motoring Heritage Day goes to the heartlands for the first time. Forty cars and seven motorcycles from the Malaysia and Singapore Vintage Car Register, dating from the late ’20s to early ’80s, will be on display. Most of the models are the only one of their kind in Singapore and extremely rare . Each vehicle displayed will have an “information plate” carrying useful details and facts.

A is for Art: Earth, Water, Fire

A Is For Art is back. This year, participants will learn how to transform ideas into lessons, look at new case studies and discover other practical art teaching strategies. Local potter Chua Soo Kim will mentor teachers on pottery. Participants can also look forward to learning more about the resources of the Asian Civilisations Museum and Peranakan Museum, as well as pedagogies for the art classroom with local and overseas art and museum educators.

Run for Hope

Every year, more than 10,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in Singapore. Help raise funds and awareness for cancer research by taking part in this year’s Run For Hope. Early-bird registration ends tomorrow. The first 10,000 to register before tomorrow stand a chance to win an eight-day vacation at the Four Seasons Maldives. Proceeds for the run will go to the National Cancer Centre Singapore.
