SINGAPORE — While it is okay to stay in for lunch when you’re swamped with work; sometimes, just sometimes, it helps to step out of the office for some fresh air and a much-needed midday breather — and meal (if time allows for it).

But where can you go? These five newly-launched set lunches pull double duty with offerings that are not only top-notch in terms of quality and taste, but are also easy on the wallet.

GINETT (Hotel G, 200 Middle Road. Tel: 6809 7989). This is possibly one of the most value-for-money set lunch offerings in town, given the restaurant’s snazzy get-up in newish hotel Hotel G. At $18, you get to take your pick from a daily rotating menu of salads, sandwiches and pastas created specially for the lunch crowd and not available on the usual lunch menu. A glass of wine starts at $6 if you’re so inclined. Priced at S$18 for two courses. Available on weekdays from 11am to 3pm.

MORSELS (#01-04, 25 Dempsey Road. Tel: 6266 3822, www.morsels.com.sg). You need to drive to get to Morsels’ new home at Dempsey, but chef-owner Petrina Koh’s wonderfully inventive and delicious food is well-worth the effort. Set lunch here is a weekly-changing menu of noodle bowls, each served with an appetiser. Think fancy options like rice vermicelli in a spicy prawn bisque and with grilled wild Sri Lankan tiger prawns, or somen with oyster done a la plancha and slow-cooked shredded Sakura chicken. Priced at S$25 per set. Available Tuesday to Friday, noon to 3pm.

THE WALL (76 Tanjong Pagar Road, tel: 6225 7988, www.thewallsg.com). The Wall may be more known for its extensive collection of whiskies and sumiyaki offerings, but its new rice bowl sets are not to be sniffed at either. Options include a meatless Yasai Mori Donburi with an assortment of charcoal grilled vegetables, and the heartier and meatier Yakitori Donburi featuring The Wall’s signature minced chicken balls with chopped cartilage and yuzu peel. Priced from S$18. Sets are served with salad, fruits, and coffee or tea. Available Monday to Thursday, noon to 2.30pm.

AKIRA BACK (Level B1M, JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach, South Tower, 30 Beach Road. Tel: 6818 1914, www.facebook.com/AkiraBackSG). Japanese cuisine gets a touch of Korean influence here at Akira Back. The Grilled Spring Chicken set lunch (S$28) for example, features chicken marinated in a spicy Korean kochujang marinade, and comes served with a daily appetiser and dessert. If you’re feeling fancy, Akira Back also offers posher options with main courses like Wagyu Ribcap Toban (S$45) and sashimi-don (S$40). Set lunch options start from $28. Available on Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 3pm.

DING DONG (#01-02 115 Amoy Street. Tel: 6557 0189, www.dingdong.com.sg). Ding Dong’s rolling set lunch menu means that new modern Asian dishes are introduced every eight weeks, and popular items make it into the main a la carte menu. Up for your consideration this time round are items like a spicy beef salad, barramundi with assam pedas and okra, and braised pork collar with a poached egg and jackfruit. Priced at S$28 for two courses. Available Monday to Saturday, noon to 3pm.
