SINGAPORE — Riding on the recent growing interest in sustainable products, artisanal coffee makers Common Man Coffee Roasters (CMCR) is launching a monthly farmer’s market together with the Spa Esprit Group (SEG) on Sunday.

The Common Man Green Project will offer a specially curated line-up of locally produced goods such as coffee, fruit juices, and herbs and flowers.

Held on the first Sunday of every month, the market aims to introduce to the public the concept of sustainable farming and foods and is a natural extension of CMCR’s business philosophy of supporting ethically produced and sustainable coffee.

“Aside from the aim of promoting urban farming, sustainability and the farm-to-table concept, (we would also) like to create a platform for young local entrepreneurs to showcase their unique work and products,” said SEG’s senior group manager Janet Lim.

Notably fresh pickings on offer range from cold-pressed juices and green smoothies from LINS Smoothies, which specialises in blending green smoothies, to farm-to-fork salads and green produce by the Food Collective Group, served with their homemade bottled dressing.

Champions of “growing your own food”, Edible Garden will offer freshly grown herbs and flowers, as well as tips on growing your own greens in an urban landscape.

There is also the opportunity to chow down on handmade Asian-flavoured gourmet products from 3 Bites Full, all-natural nut butters by Second Helpings, and made-in-Singapore granola in a variety of South-east Asian-inspired flavours from Eastern Granola.

Lim added: “We’ve also observed that the market and interest for sustainable foods and local/artisanal produce has been steadily growing, and people are getting more involved in urban farming and green issues, so we felt that it would be a good platform to educate the public on such topics and further grow the market.”

It’s not just all things edible at the market. Feeding the mind will be local vendors such as independent bookstore BooksActually and online design community and e-store Dottinghill, which will be promoting its range of “skin accessories” and wearable art pieces.

The Common Man Green Project will kick off on Aug 3, 9am to 5pm, at Common Man Coffee Roasters, 22 Martin Road, Level 1 and 2.
