O’COFFEE CLUB’S NATIONAL DAY PROMOTION

Tuck into limited items only available for the August month at O’Coffee Club, which is celebrating our nation’s birthday with a special promotion. Indulge in local fare such as Curry Chicken (concocted with their special house-made curry paste) that is served with a warm baguette (S$7.90), Hearty Prawn Laksa (S$15.90) and Chilli Crab Linguine (S$19.90), which is served with chunky pieces of crab meat tossed in a homemade tantalising chili and tomato sauce. Top off the meal with an Iced Gula Melaka Blend (S$6.90) or Gula Melaka Latte (S$6.40). Located at all 10 O’Coffee Club outlets, including Paragon. JOE & DOUGH CELEBRATES SG51

Inspired by the 1960s where buttercream cakes were traditionally served during wedding ceremonies and Full Moon celebrations, Joe & Dough has rolled out their version of the Old School Buttercream Cakes (S$4.20). Made with a 100 per cent natural ingredients, with no preservatives or additives, the cakes come with a soft fluffy sponge, luscious buttercream and robust jam. Sweeten the deal with their Old School Tea Set promotion, where you get a slice of cake and a cup of CHA Fine Tea for S$6.50. After eating, pop by their pop-up retail shop called “Made in Singapore”, where you can get your hands on brands such as BoxGreen’s snacks packed with wholesome ingredients and WHENIWASFOUR’s lifestyle products. DA PAOLO BISTROBAR NATIONAL DAY 2016

Chef Kip Fatt from Da Paolo BistroBar has taken a novel contemporary spin on the classic Singapore Curry Laksa (S$29). The restaurant’s rendition of the laksa pasta packs a lot of flavour, with pan-seared slipper lobster in olive oil paired with homemade tagliolini and generous portion of well-cooked fresh cockles topped with scrumptious laksa broth. The popular Iced Chendol Rum (S$16), created by bar manager Farhhad has an exotic twist too. The shaved ice served in a traditional Boston glass mug is flavoured with spiced rum and Malibu rum, making the beverage sweet and savoury. Located at the Da Paolo BistroBar outlet at Rochester Park, from Mondays to Sundays, untll Aug 21, for lunch and dinner.

LION REMIX: HEARTY LOCAL FAVOURITES AT W SINGAPORE

Celebrate the nation’s birthday in true Singapore fashion by enjoying a hearty feast of local favourites provided by W Singapore on August 7. Delectable local culinary delights such as Singapore’s signature chili crab with fried mantou, fried prawn noodles, roasted peanuts and more will be among the dishes diners can expect in the set. Desserts such as a medley of kueh including pulut inti, rainbow kueh and kueh kodok will help diners end their meal on a sweet note. The set is priced at S$178++ and includes an endless supply of bubbly, red and white house wine and cocktails. Kids aged three and below can dine for free, whereas kids aged four to six have to pay S$48++ and kids aged seven to 12 pay S$78. Available only for a day for lunch from 12.30pm to 4pm.

THE EMMANUEL STROOBANT GROUP RESTAURANTS CELEBRATE SINGAPORE’S NATIONAL DAY

The Emmanuel Stroobant Group restaurant Saint Pierre gives a fresh take on the Peranakan favourite, Babi Buah Keluak with this new dish. Chef Emmanuel Stroobant has recreated the dish with the finest iberico pork to counter-balance against the deep flavours of this Southeast Asian native fruit for a flavoursome meal. Other items available on the lunch menu include a soy marinated seared saba mackerel with pickled baby beetroot, horseradish cream and crispy potato. The Peranakan dish is only available for a limited time until Aug 13. The lunch set menu is available from Tuesdays to Fridays, from 11.30am to 3pm. Last order is at 2pm.

BOOKING AHEAD: A MUGHAL FEAST AT RAFFLES HOTEL SINGAPORE

Succulent kebabs, fragrant briyanis and other delectable delicacies take centre stage in a new rendition of the popular Kebab & Briyani festival at Tiffin Room, Raffles Hotel Singapore. Chef de Cuisine Kuldeep Negi will curate a fine melange of vegetarian and non-vegetarian Mughlai kebabs and biryanis alongside some popular favourites from across the palate of North India. Menu highlights include Lagan Ki Boti Ke Kebab (lamb cubes marinated with raw papaya, cashewnut with onion paste) and Tandoori Scallops (marinated with cheese, yoghurt, turmeric and rose water), among other dishes. Available from Aug 12 to Aug 28. Lunch is priced at S$60++ (S$35 per child for those aged 6 to 12) from 12pm to 2pm and dinner at S$75++ (S$40++ per child) from 7pm to 10pm.
