SINGAPORE — Do you miss McDonald’s’ Monopoly Game? Well, the fast food chain has heard your pleas and is bringing the popular game back after a five year hiatus.

“Customers were asking us for more ways to play and have fun with the brand,” explained Jassie Ling, McDonald’s Singapore’s senior manager, Marketing. “We went out and we conducted focus groups and they told us to bring back the Monopoly game.”

So this year, they decided to relaunch it, she added. Ling was speaking to reporters at a media preview of the game on Thursday (Oct 27) at McDonald’s Marine Cove outlet.

This year’s Monopoly game, which will run from Nov 3 to Dec 28, will offer close to four million prizes, where customers stand a chance to take home a brand new Citroen C4 Cactus, OCBC Bank cash prizes worth S$40,000, Nestle Gold Bar sets worth S$25,000, and Star Cruises Family Holiday packages worth more than S$7,000, to name a few.

For the first time in McDonald’s Monopoly Game history, customers can now get a game label from all of McDonald’s touchpoints, compared to the previous edition where they could only get a game label at the restaurant counters. These touchpoints include all McDonald’s restaurants Self-Ordering Kiosks and Drive-Thrus, McCafe counters, and via McDelivery. Which also means you can play the game right in the comforts of your own home.

Like the previous edition, a game label could comprise either a property label, an Instant Win card or a Chance card, and there are three ways you can win prizes. The first is to Collect To Win. Here, you need to collect all property game labels within the same colour group.

The second way, Instant Win, will instantly get you a prize from either McDonald’s or from participating brands such as NETS and Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS). An Instant Win from NETS will entitle you to a S$2 discount at McDonald’s or McCafe when you pay by NETS or NETS FlashPay, and for WRS, visiting the Singapore Zoo will get you one child admission ticket free when you buy one adult admission ticket.

The third is the Chance card, that will enable you to enter a lucky draw to win a NETS Flashpay Card that is pre-loaded with S$500. The draw is split into two categories — a weekly draw and a final draw. Participants who do not win in the weekly draw will be entered into the final draw for a chance at any unclaimed Collect To Win or Weekly Draw prizes.

To get your hands on a game label, simply buy an Extra Value Meal or a McCafe meal. You can get one more game label if you upsize your Extra Value Meal.

To get more game labels, purchasing the McDelivery Bundle Meals is probably your best bet. For example, if you get its S$22.95 McDelivery Bundle Meal, you will receive three labels. Its S$32.95 Bundle Meal will get you four labels and its S$49.95 one will get you seven labels — the maximum one can receive.

Through this event, McDonald’s Singapore hopes customers will enjoy themselves while playing the game. “We are continuously looking for ways to delight our customers — be it by our food or the fun and unique experiences that we have to offer,” said its senior director of marketing, Yvonne Low.

McDonald’s Monopoly Game will run from Nov 3 to Dec 28. Labels are available from all McDonald’s restaurants, McCafe and via McDelivery. Participants have to be a legal resident of Singapore with a valid NRIC or FIN number.
