Easter on the island

SINGAPORE — Once confined to a simple Sunday Roast, Easter celebrations on Sentosa island have grown somewhat, and visitors are encouraged to tuck into some indulgent promotions this year.

As it’s held in conjunction with the Sentosa HarbourFront Business Association’s The Great Egg-Venture, which runs from April 18 to May 11 (with themed activities like the “giant egg hunt”), you might want to book that celebratory meal in advance.

Thankfully, there are loads to choose from.

For an entire afternoon of fun and feasting, W Hotel Sentosa Cove will be hosting an Easter Wonderland (April 20, priced at S$158 per person or S$188 with free-flow of Veuve Cliquot and Dom Perignon, and S$78 per child, age 6 to 12 years), with Alice and other Wonderland mascots joining the party. Two seatings are available, from 12.30pm to 2.30pm then from 3pm to 5pm, and guests can expect a mouth-watering buffet of inspired delights lined up across its two restaurants, Kitchen Table and SKIRT.

Speaking of feeding off our favourite fantasies, Movenpick Heritage Hotel Sentosa’s international brunch event at Tablescape (April 20, 11am to 3pm, S$78 per adult, S$38 per child) is aptly dubbed Charlie And The Swiss Chocolate Factory and set around a giant chocolate bar weighing over 100kg and a luscious array of sweet treats.

Even those who have already made plans to get their thrills at Universal Studios Singapore can consider a festive start to the day. The park’s Easter breakfast buffet (S$55 per adult and S$45 per child excluding park admission fees, 8am to 10.30am) will involve egg painting and a park-wide egg hunt. Meanwhile, the Easter Sunday lunch (S$68 per adult, S$22 per child; noon to 5pm) at Starz Restaurant at Hard Rock Hotel Singapore also has activities for children: They can get their faces painted, join an egg hunt, catch a movie and a magic show.

For an adventure of the gastronomic kind, The Sentosa Resort & Spa’s Easter Sunday Champagne Brunch (S$160 per adult, S$65 per child) boasts a spread ranging from a seafood bar to Easter Bunny-themed desserts. You might even be inspired to learn how to make beautifully embellished bunny-shaped cookies, cupcakes and cake-pops, which you can do at a baking class by the resort’s pastry chef (Saturdays from April 19 to May 10, S$50 per person).

An equally lavish lunch can also be had over at Capella Singapore, and it promises to be a lively afternoon on the lush grounds, dining on a delectable Mediterranean buffet spread that’s lined with fresh seafood, gourmet meats and innovative desserts at The Knolls (S$228 per adult, includes free flow of wine and champagne; S$78 to S$118 per child, April 20, 12.30pm). Children will be treated to fun-filled activities, including an exciting hunt for “peacock eggs”, one of which could nab mummy and daddy the top prize of a night’s stay in one of its one-bedroom villas.

Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa has decided to have their garden party closer to the waterfront. This is a fitting bounty of seafood — from French oysters to king crab legs and lobster — served alongside succulent roasts and grills. And children will have their own buffet corner, packed with magic shows and balloon sculpting. What’s more, one child dines free with one paying adult (S$158 per adult); another S$38 per child is chargeable for each additional child.

How’s that for an Easter worth savouring?
