SilkAir offers sky-high indulgence

SINGAPORE — Hainanese chicken rice, mee rebus and roasted salmon fillet — these are some of what SilkAir’s Business Class passengers can look forward to when they travel on flights departing from Singapore, which are three hours and more.

The airline is offering a new selection of meals under its All-Time Favourites menu, with 20 options from Oriental, Muslim, Indian and Western cuisine for passengers.

Oriental offerings include fried carrot cake and beef brisket with five spice sauce, while Muslim favourites include the roti jala and ikan assam. For those who enjoy Western delicacies, there are dishes such as classic blueberry pancakes and grilled beef tenderloin. Indian dishes include Indian pancake with chicken keema filling, mutton masala, and fish biryani.

“The dishes we have curated for the All-Time Favourites menu is a reflection of SilkAir’s multi-cultural Singaporean heritage, and also pays tribute to the 49 diverse destinations that we fly to,” said the airline’s chief executive Foo Chai Woo.

Passengers can pre-book their dishes up to 24 hours in advance. Bookings can be done through the SilkAir or Singapore Airlines websites, or their reservation offices and through travel agents.

“Business Class customers can very easily customise their on-board experience by preselecting their inflight meal from a wide range of options, ensuring their meal of choice is available to them,” added Foo.

Apart from the launch of the All-Time Favourites menu, other new additions to the inflight offerings include refreshments such as freshly-squeezed orange juice on all flights for breakfast and champagne for lunch and dinner. Handmade chocolate pralines have also been added to the menu, available for lunch and dinner, alongside a new beverage offering of hot Masala Tea, only offered on flights to Indian cities.

Pointing out that SilkAir always puts customers “at the heart of our business”, Foo added that they “make it a point to continuously improve our services and offerings to meet the needs of discerning travellers”.

Despite the fact that the All-Time Favourites menu is an “enhanced product offering for Business Class travellers”, Foo says Economy Class passengers will also get an adaption of the menu, citing dishes such as nasi lemak, fried basa fish with hot and sour sauce paired with noodles, and baked chicken and potatoes.
