Where to make those last-minute Christmas dining reservations

SINGAPORE - The festive season is in full swing, and restaurant reservations in Singapore are typically booked up well in advance. So, if you have not yet made your Christmas dining reservations, you are officially in trouble (not to mention a major procrastinator).

SINGAPORE - The festive season is in full swing, and restaurant reservations in Singapore are typically booked up well in advance. But if you have not yet made your Christmas dining reservations, you are officially in trouble (not to mention a major procrastinator).

Most restaurants TODAY checked with are already fully booked, but there are still a number of eateries accepting reservations for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, if you would not mind a few non-traditional options. You cannot be picky if you are a last-minute planner, right? Here is the list — you can thank us later.

NEON PIGEON

Who says good Christmas meals are only available at Western restaurants? Neon Pigeon, a modern izakaya, is the perfect hideout at which hipsters can celebrate the season. Highlights from this eatery’s festive menu include the Miso Poached Lobster (S$120 for two people) with carrots, honey sesame goma, seasoned nori (seaweed), katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes) and garlic loaf, and a sweet treat — the Drunken Matcha Fruit Cake (S$12), which contains rum-infused dried fruits and vanilla bean custard. Complement the meal with a Kurisumasu Punch, mixed with fruit-tea vodka and spiced wine. Can we
say yum?

Neon Pigeon will be available for last-minute reservations and walk-ins on Christmas Eve. The restaurant will hold tables for walk-ins. It will be closed on Christmas Day. Located at 1 Keong Saik Rd. Call 6222 3623 to make reservations.

LEVEL 33

This modern European restaurant comes with a view and offers a Christmas Eve menu with a slow-roasted turkey (S$36) — an Indian pale ale-brined butterball turkey with roasted winter vegetables and sausage meat stuffing served with giblet gravy and stout and cranberry jam. On Christmas Day, its festive menu will come with a side that is priced at S$45. Feast on mains such as roast beef with Yorkshire pudding or vegetable tart with pumpkin veloute with a choice of side dish — duck fat-roast potatoes or sage with onion stuffing.

LeVeL 33 will be available for last-minute reservations and walk-ins on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The restaurant will hold tables for walk-ins. Located at 8 Marina Blvd. Call 6834 3133 to make reservations.

ANGIE’S AT FIFTY
RAFFLES PLACE (50RP)

At 50RP (which is the name of the hotel), Angie’s inaugural Christmas offering is a scrumptious a la carte, seafood-focused buffet. Diners can expect to enjoy dishes such as fresh oysters and mussel pots. They can also tuck into classic favourites such as fish and chips. The a la carte dinner, which is buffet-style, is priced at S$75++ per person (minimum of two diners). Besides good chow, the restaurant’s location also boasts a great bonus: Awesome views. Need we say more?

Angie’s will be available for last-minute reservations on Christmas Eve. Walk-ins will only be accommodated if there are
last-minute cancellations. It will be closed on Christmas Day. Located at 50 Raffles Place. Call 6221 9555 to make reservations.

BREZ’N

Get into the European Christmas spirit with hearty Bavarian fare at Brez’n, Singapore’s newest Bavarian restaurant. Chef Dominik Osterreicher has prepared a number of delicious selections, starting with the Salat mit Entenbrust, a smoked duck breast that is sliced thin and served on a bed of fresh salad greens and crunchy walnuts, as well as the Sauerbraten mit Serviettenknoedel, a beef dish made with special spices and vinegar and served with rich brown sauce, sliced bread dumplings and braised red cabbage. Complement your meal with a glass of mulled wine, a refreshing and fragrant cocktail that is packed with fragrant spices such as cinnamon and cloves.

Brez’n will be available for last-minute reservations and walk-ins on Christmas
Eve and Christmas Day. The restaurant
will hold tables for walk-ins. Located at
491 River Valley Road. Call 6235 1613 to make reservations.

LABYRINTH

Asian food is not typically synonymous with Yuletide, but Asian-fusion restaurant Labyrinth’s creative dishes, which explore the creative flavours of both Western as well as Asian cuisines, might just hit the spot. The six-course Christmas menu (S$88++ per pax) by Chef Han Liguang includes a rojak salad with green mango, a double-boiled soup with fungus, and the quintessential Christmas turkey wrapped in prosciutto. To top it off, the restaurant is serving Chef Han’s favourite snack — Scotch eggs, a dish that comprises an “egg white” made of coconut panna cotta enclosing a “yolky” mango puree. Creative
and delicious.

Labyrinth will be available for last-minute reservations on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. However, once the restaurant gets fully booked, diners will be added to the restaurant’s waiting list and should there be any last-minute cancellations, they can accommodate
them. Located at 8 Raffles Avenue.
