SINGAPORE — Did it just hit you that Christmas is round the corner?

Perhaps the yuletide vibes hit you late and you have just realised you are behind on Christmas decorating and shopping for gifts. Or the promised end-of- the-year lull period never came and you were too busy to think about Christmas — 2016 really did not seem to want to take a break, even in its last month. It is time to get your game on and get your home looking its yuletide best with shiny baubles and fairy lights. There is no need for panic (or an end-of-the-year existential crisis). We have got a list of places where you can still get value-for-money Christmas decorations.

DAISO

A perfect place to pick up Christmas decorations at super affordable prices. You will be able to get decorations suitable for any setting from that Christmas office party to an intimate dinner get-together. And while you are at it, you could pick up some wrapping paper or Christmas stockings, and some “in-case-of-emergency” gifts for unexpected guests at your Christmas party. You could possibly find everything you need here — and at S$2 each to boot. There is a Daiso located in various shopping malls throughout the island, making it a convenient last-minute drop by.

Open from 10 am to 10pm daily.

MUSTAFA CENTRE

This is always a trusty choice where you would be able to get everything under one roof, including your Christmas decorations. While other popular retailers may have run out of what you are looking for, try this megamart in Serangoon. Get anything from 10m long fairy lights to ornaments. As always, when you desperately need a shopping item at an unholy hour, you know who you can depend on for almost anything under the sun — Mustafa.

Open 24 hours.

CRATE & BARREL

Christmas shopping at Crate & Barrel has become a holiday tradition. Located at Orchard Gateway @ Emerald and ION Orchard, shoppers have a wide variety of Christmas decor options from the felt Santa, cheery gingerbread men, colourful Nutcrackers to quirky adorable animals such as owls, lions, bears and reindeer which can be used as Christmas tree ornaments. This is the place to head to for those looking for slightly less traditional Christmas decorations that give a quirky and festive feel to your home or even an office party. Many go to Crate & Barrel just to browse and get inspiration for home and decor, and items here tend to be on the pricey side.

Open from 10am to 10pm daily.

IKEA

Another place often used for home decoration ideas, but a more affordable option. When you are looking for things to make your home a little merrier for the holidays, your best bet is probably Ikea. It is a one-stop answer for both indoor and outdoor decorative items if you are looking to extend the festive spirit to your garden or balcony. With decorative lighting emblazoned with yuletide designs, cushions and throw pillows with Christmas motifs and traditional Christmas red candle holders and candles, you are not likely to go off the mark with these options. One word of advice, at Ikea, it is easy to go overboard and buy more than what you were looking for, so an exercise in discipline might help avoid busting your pockets.

Open from 10am to 11pm daily.

FESTIVAL MARKET AT CHRISTMAS WONDERLAND

Kill two birds with one stone at Christmas Wonderland, Singapore’s biggest yuletide fair at Gardens by the Bay. End a festive outing with some shopping. The Festive Market is a good place to pick up decorations and gifts, with its unique handmade miniature crafts. At one of the booths by Blue Stone Craft, you can also enjoy the hands-on experience by assembling exquisite DIY gifts fit for every occasion.

3.30pm to 11pm daily from 2 Dec 2016 to 1 Jan 2017
