Harry Potter script to be published in book form in July

SINGAPORE — The script of an upcoming Harry Potter Play will be published in book form at the end of July, according to Pottermore, a website developed by the series’ author J K Rowling.

Like the play, the book will be titled Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts I & II, and will be available after the play’s official opening on July 30 at London’s West End.

The book will feature the script of the play used during its preview performances, which take place for several weeks before the official opening. Fans will be able to purchase a “special rehearsal edition” of the book initially. A “definitive collector’s edition” will be published later, said the website.

The book will be available in both print and digital formats.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts I & II is based on an original story by J K Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany.

It is officially the eighth story in the enormously successful series and will continue where Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows left off in 2007. That title ended with Potter sending his children off to Hogwarts, 19 years after he had defeated Lord Voldemort at the Battle of Hogwarts.
