SINGAPORE — Pokemon will meet the scientific method when the region’s first ever Pokemon Research Exhibition rolls into Singapore on Saturday (Oct 22).

The exhibition, at the S.E.A. Aquarium in Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), will be the first held outside Japan. Its mission is simple: Choose a Pokeball and deduce which “pocket monster” is in the Pokeball based on clues gathered throughout the exhibition, which features eight areas.

RWS said in a statement on Monday that the exhibition will provide “visitors with opportunities to carry out the scientific processes of observation, investigation and data collection, and learn more about species classification with Pokémon as the subjects”.

Visitors begin by picking their preferred difficulty levels from three Pokeballs — a regular Pokeball (easy), a Great Ball (medium), or an Ultra Ball (hard) — before embarking on their mission.

Each visitor will place the Pokeball in four observation machines, which will generate clues such as the Pokémon’s distinctive characteristics and silhouettes. Using the collected evidence, visitors can then attempt to guess which Pokémon is in the Pokeball.

The exhibition was held in various cities across Japan, from 2015 to early this year.

The Pokémon Research Exhibition will be open daily from 10am to 7pm and will be available until Jan 2. All tickets to the exhibition are bundled with admission to S.E.A. Aquarium.

Ticket bundles are discounted online at S$35 (usual price S$42 for adult), and S$23 (usual price S$32 for child/senior) inclusive of admission to S.E.A. Aquarium.
