SINGAPORE—Yet another Hello Kitty event has landed on our shores and it looks like it’s going be another hit.

Robot Kitty Singapore opens its doors on Saturday (June 11) and already organisers have been swamped with queries from fans, said Eugene Chan, the senior marketing and communications executive.

“Currently, our communication channels continued to be swarmed with the queries from the public,” he told TODAY. “Not only in Facebook, our phone lines, our websites, our emails have constantly been bombarded by the questions and we are doing our best to respond to all of them in a timely manner.”

This flood of fan interest only “reinforced optimism towards the expected turnout for this event”, he added. “Based on the volume of enquiries as well as the volume of ticket and preorder sales, together with strong Facebook engagement … we personally feel that this event will be successful.”

Robot Kitty Singapore is an interactive gameplay arena of sorts. Once you enter, you will be required take part in an interactive quest to be “engineers” at the Sanrio Robotics Institute, via five interactive gaming departments — namely Design, Quality Control, Repair, Component and Energy.

At the Design department for example, you’re required to play a computer game to align the various parts of Robot Kitty. You have 18 seconds to accomplish your task — and you only get one try. “You might want to take a few moments to get used to the game,” advised the attendant at the game.

At the Repair Department, Hello Kitty’s friend Melody get you to revive the malfunctioning Robot Kitty with a pair of defibrillators.

Every time you accomplish your task at these departments, you will get “Koins”, which you can redeem for parts or accessories, which can then be used to “dress up” a Robot Kitty or Robot K that you can purchase.

Held at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre Hall 403, from 10am to 8pm, Robot Kitty Singapore will run until June 21. It has had previous runs in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Shanghai.
