A Hotels.com survey showed that Singaporeans named celebrities such as footballers David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo as people they would love to vacation with. Beckham led the pack, with 23 per cent of respondents picking him as their top travel buddy, while Ronaldo was the No. 2 choice, with 20.3 per cent saying they would love to holiday with him.
In the No. 3 spot, however, was a name closer to home — 15 per cent of the respondents said they would go on vacation with Singapore’s top guy, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
He comes just ahead of American actor George Clooney and Singapore’s first Olympic gold medallist, Joseph Schooling. Clooney and Schooling were tied, with 13.7 per cent of respondents selecting them as top travel companions.
A total of 8,400 people from 28 countries were polled for the Hotels.com survey. It was not clear how many of those were Singaporeans.
Leading the pack of female celebrities Singaporeans would choose to vacation with was Taylor Swift (26.7 per cent). But local actress Rebecca Lim was at No. 3, with 24.3 per cent of respondents saying they would love to hang with her on vacay.
At No. 2 was Angeline Jolie (25 per cent), while Friends sweetheart Jennifer Aniston (20.7 per cent) was at No. 4. Another local actress, Felicia Chin, with 15.7 per cent, rounded out the list at No. 5.
