NEW YORK — Fashion designer Alexander Wang brought the house down at Harlem on Thursday night (Oct 16) when he unveiled his new collection in collaboration with H&M.
Wang, who is also the creative director of Balenciaga and his eponymous label, is the first American designer to work exclusively on a collaboration with the Swedish fashion giant. Available for both men and women, the mostly-black Alexander Wang x H&M collection lured many to the event’s venue Fort Washington Avenue Armory. Spotted were celebrities Jessica Chastain, Justin Theroux and Dakota Fanning.
The women’s collection comprises 38 exclusive designs in a sweet mixture of performance and sportswear. Hot favourites that sold out within the hour included cropped tops, sports bras cheekily inked all over with the Alexander Wang logo, tights, dresses and leather and scuba track pants that boast an air of downtown cool.
The men’s collection will likely draw those who prefer their urban wardrobe with the functionality of performance wear. Sweatshirts, hoodies, T-shirts and knits comprise the bulk of the 23-piece collection, along with accessories such as compression socks, sunglasses, boxing gloves, bags and towels.
The Alexander Wang x H&M collection will be available in Singapore from Nov 6 at H&M stores in Orchard Building and ION Orchard.
