SINGAPORE — What’s better than having gorgeous shoes and bags? More gorgeous shoes and bags. That’s shoppers are getting with Pedder On Scotts that opened on Thursday (Oct 1).

Occupying the entire second level of Scotts Square, this 20,000 sqf retail concept is Pedder Group’s largest free-standing store in Asia. There are seven retail zones including a Pedder Men’s Store (the first outside Hong Kong) and the Weekend & Sports section, which stocks sports lifestyle brands like Superga as well as labels exclusive to On Pedder such as Athletic Propulsion Labs and Uzurii.

Female shoe fiends will have a field day with designer shoes from Aquazzura to Golden Goose Deluxe Brand in the other zones.

To add to the shopping experience, each zone sports a distinctive personality and style. For example, the Cool Kids zone dedicated to trendy children’s footwear (think Melissa and Charlotte Olympia shoes in mini sizes) is themed after a magic forest with a giant monster greeting shoppers at the store front. There are also three kiosks in the space that will see pop-up events happening within them every few months to introduce complementary and innovative lifestyle brands to shoppers.

Currently, multi-label beauty retailer escentials is taking up one of these kiosks while the “godfather of Singaporean design” Theseus Chan will be holding an exhibition titled Deformed in another. He will also be launching an exclusive collection of wallets, scarves and pouches he designed for Pedder on Scotts later this month.

The store will regularly host designers as well. Shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood will be coming down for the store’s official opening on Oct 16 to present his 10-year anniversary collection, and Athletic Propulsion Labs co-founders Adam and Ryan Goldston are slated to appear in December.

Rounding up the space is the much buzzed-about Hong Kong establishment, The Coffee Academics, which is opening a 3,000 sqf cafe in November. It will provide all-day dining over connoisseur coffee — and a place to rest your legs and shopping bags, of course.

“This store is created with the sophisticated Singaporean customer in mind who wants variety and newness,” said Peter Harris, president of Pedder Group. “This is the largest range of designers under one roof for women, men and children in an environment that mixes creativity and fun.” Serene Lim
