Fendi’s fashion friends

LONDON — It is not every day that you can pick up a Fendi bag designed by Rihanna or Sarah Jessica Parker. But thanks to the Italian brand’s latest project — and bank balance permitting, of course — you now can. The singer and actress have joined British model Jourdan Dunn, Man Repeller founder Leandra Medine and artist Rachel Feinstein to create their versions of the 3Baguette — the newest member of the Fendi bag family, which was launched last December.

The five exclusive designs will be auctioned off via Fendi’s website from Feb 13 and all proceeds from the sales will go to the charities chosen by the stars — Parker is supporting The Brain Trauma Foundation, Dunn has opted for The Sickle Cell Disease Association of America (her son Riley suffers from the disease), Rihanna has chosen The Clara Lionel Foundation, which she founded in 2012 in honour of her grandparents, Medine is supporting the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund and Feinstein’s efforts will go in aid of the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.

Until they are sold, the bags will be on display at Fendi’s new Madison Avenue flagship store in New York. It is the second project of its kind for the brand. Last year, it enlisted singer Adele, actresses Gwyneth Paltrow and Naomie Harris, models Cara Delevingne, Jerry Hall and her daughter Georgia May Jagger, architect Zaha Hadid, fashion illustrator Tanya Ling, artist Tracey Emin and journalist Kate Adie to design their Fendi Peekaboo bags, all of which will be auctioned in aid of London- and Bristol-based children’s charity Kids Company.
