S’pore online fashion store sets up in US

SINGAPORE — It’s one giant leap for homegrown online fashion retailer Her Velvet Vase (www.hervelvetvase.com.sg), which has launched operations in the United States.

Founded by siblings Clare and Magdalene Chan eight years ago, Her Velvet Vase was to be a multi-faceted fashion experience, offering on-trend, quality and affordable clothing, jewellery and accessories, as well as personalised style and beauty tips and cafe guides, among others.

“We are excited to have launched in the United States and believe that there is demand for our approach to fashion from other markets too. With Mag focusing on design while I drive up business operations, we are keen to further extend Her Velvet Vase to other markets. Singapore remains a core focus and as much as we bring Her Velvet Vase to the world, we bring international styles back to Singapore too,” said Clare Chan in a statement.

“We want to enable customers to express their personal style through a lifestyle, and not just clothes,” she added.

Mag Chan, who is the head of Design & Creative, said: “This is an alternative street style that is modern, refreshing and feminine ... all aimed to make urban femininity effortless,”

Mag is currently taking a one-year sabbatical from operations in Singapore to run the New York office. Her Velvet Vase recently updated their New York Collection, which is inspired by the modern street styles of Paris, Stockholm and New York, to coincide with its US launch.
