Victoria Beckham wraps up visit

SINGAPORE — After showcasing her Autumn/Winter 2015 collection at the recently concluded Singapore Fashion Week, Victoria Beckham made one more appearance yesterday to wrap up her trip.

The celebrity designer made a special showing at the Sephora store at ION Orchard for the Singapore launch of her collaboration with British nail colour and care brand Nails Inc, which is offering two chic polishes.

“When Nails Inc asked me to collaborate, I was working on my Victoria, Victoria Beckham line. And the two colours that really stood out for me were the Bamboo White and the Judo Red, so (we’ve) kept it super focused and just (created) two colours,” said Beckham, in an event hosted by fashion blogger and television presenter Yvette King.

The fashion designer believes nails play an important part in completing your get-up. “You know, I’m very girly and I think that it’s just nice to look after yourself, to have nice clean nails that are freshly manicured. I think it’s very important that you actually feel good about yourself.”

The discussion went beyond nails when Beckham revealed struggling with frizzy hair because of Singapore’s high humidity levels. Since arriving in Singapore on Saturday, her Instagram posts have included hashtags such as #FightTheFrizz and #outofcontrol, and captions such as “Hair I come Singapore! It’s humid here!” and “We fought the frizz and we won! Sleek and straight in Singapore”.

“The minute we come out of the hotel, it frizzes up. I think it’s about having good products and getting a good blow-dry. Less is more, not putting on too much products but just the right amount,” she said.

With such a hectic schedule and her frizz issues thankfully over, Beckham revealed she just “tries to be the best version of myself”.

“I like to wear nice clothes, take care of myself, work out and I’m happy. I think that’s the most important thing: To be happy, thankful and grateful for everything we have. Every day I wake up and I think, you know, I’m very lucky. And that shows, I think. Beauty isn’t necessarily just the way you look. It’s that energy that you give out.”

For the mother of four, embarking on a career in fashion came naturally. “It’s what I always wanted to do. I love fashion and I want to empower women. I want them to feel good, confident and sexy for themselves, so I think I’ve got the best job in the world. When I see women walking around wearing my clothes or even wearing my nail polish, and they feel good about themselves, that’s great. Women should stick together and support each other.” ZHANG WEIFANG

The VVB X NailsInc collection is available at Sephora stores for S$39.
