Traditionally, a female civilian is invited to be a “Godmother” for passenger ships. They supposed to bestow good luck and divine protection over the seagoing vessel and all that sail aboard. Godmothers for RCI have ranged from Her Majesty Queen Sonja of Norway for Majesty of the Seas to singer/actress Kirstin Chenoweth for Quantum of the Seas.

Ovation of the Seas set sail from South Hampton April 10 and Tianjin will be her homeport, where she’ll operate a series of cruises to destinations in Asia.
