The Russians love instant noodles and, according to the World Instant Noodles Association, Russia ranks 11th in terms of global demand. Rollton, a local brand, has dominated the market since it was launched in 1999.

Who doesn’t know about Nongshim these days? The South Korean instant noodle maker has been manufacturing its deliciously spicy noodles since 1986. The company also produces a premium range of cup noodles called the Black Shin Cup with Psy as its spokesperson in 2012. Needless to say, it was a runaway success.
Mr Lee’s Cup Noodles from Norway
This brand of instant noodles brand was created by Korean Lee Choi Ho who settled in Norway when he was just a teenager. While the packaging may raise eyebrows, it was inspired by Lee’s larger-than-life personality and has won four design awards since it was launched. Still, the noodles taste “average and artificial”, say some.

Master Kong rules in the Taiwanese and Chinese markets thanks to its classic bestseller, the braised beef noodles, which was introduced in the early ’90s. Fans dig its rich broth and subsequent versions such as the sour and spicy beef flavour launched in 2012, which have also gone on to become hits.

Mama has found a foothold with instant noodles fiends with its tom yum offerings. Its popularity in Thailand is so huge, the Phad Mama is now a dish offered by many Thai hawkers.

British food company Golden Wonder launched its own brand of cup noodles called Pot Noodle back in 1977. Since then, Pot Noodle has come up with fascinating flavours such as Sausage Casserole and Southern Fried Chicken, as well as the Choc Noodle, created in collaboration with chocolatier Paul A.
