SINGAPORE — Singapore will be getting its very own Louis Vuitton City Guide next year.

The companion guide book series published by the French luxury brand will include six new cities in its line-up for 2015, which also include Berlin, Istanbul, Milan, Rio de Janeiro and Shanghai.

Art and heritage consultant Peter Lee, who is also the eldest brother of music icon Dick Lee, has been appointed guest editor for the guide. He joins an impressive list of guest contributors for the series, including fashion photographer Giovanni Gastel for Milan, popular singer/songwriter Joyce Moreno for Rio de Janeiro, architect Frank Gehry and Barrie Kosky, artistic director of the Komische Oper Berlin.

Lee previously worked in the Chinese art department at Christie’s in the early 1990s before returning home to Singapore to manage the family’s investment portfolio and consult on projects with South East Asian artists and heritage bodies.

Lee wants the guide to reflect the stories “of a different kind of Singaporean society”. “I love the incredible interactions of Malay, Eurasian, Chinese, Indian and European communities,” he said.

TODAY understands that the brand was looking for a guest editor with real roots and a credible, authentic knowledge and understanding of Singapore.

With Singapore coming into the international spotlight in recent years, our city’s inclusion to the Louis Vuitton City Guide 2015 collection is timely.

The launch of the Singapore guide will be in conjunction with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Singapore and all guides sold in Louis Vuitton stores will carry the SG50 sticker.

The bespoke City Guides have been around since 1998 and offers insider tips and recommendations from a trusted local insider perspective, presenting more famous landmarks alongside some of each city’s best kept secrets. In keeping with the brand’s reputation, the listings in each guide are chosen by travellers with discernment and a taste for luxury.

To date, the series covers 21 cities, including Paris, Tokyo, Sydney, Cape Town, New York, Sao Paulo and Moscow.
